Home Office Must-Haves for Real Estate Pros

A study by Pew Research Center revealed that six-in-ten U.S. workers who say their jobs can mainly be done from home (59%) are working from home all or most of the time. If you are one of these workers, you probably understand how essential your home office is to conducting business. You may feel like you don’t have the same command you once did when you were in-person at the office, but fear not! We’ve compiled a list of must-have items for your real estate home office to help you take back some control.

  • Adjustable Standing Desk

It’s no secret that the day to day of a real estate professional can be physically demanding. Whether you’re travelling to listings or hosting meetings with clients, the job can take a toll on the body. An excellent way to combat this is with an adjustable standing desk. According to Healthline, a standing desk can decrease your risk of weight gain, reduce back pain, increase energy and much more.

  • Strong WIFI

While this one may seem obvious, think about how many virtual meetings you’ve been in where the speaker’s audio is cutting in and out. Not only is it frustrating for everyone, but it distracts the other participants from the message. Make sure you have a strong WIFI network that can support your bandwidth. If you have several devices or know you will be uploading and downloading a lot of content, consider a higher speed internet.

  • Ring Light/Adequate Lighting

Adequate lighting is necessary for smooth video communication, but LED lights are ideal. Unlike your conventional ceiling light, LED lighting will not cast shadows while providing you with nice, bright lighting. Ring lights in particular produce a constant warm light that works to illuminate the face, making them especially effective for video recording.

  • Cable Clips

If you’re a busy real estate pro, chances are you have several devices you use to conduct business. Most reps have multiple desktop monitors, tablets, a phone, laptop, and loads of other tech. Cable clips are great because they organize all of those messy stray wires into a clean, streamlined flow. They can also be mounted to a desk or wall giving you the flexibility you need.

  • Camera

A quality camera will go a long way in this business. As a real estate pro, you should have a dependable camera for your real estate photography needs. Your cell phone camera won’t cut it here. Many modern cameras also have the capability to serve as a webcam too, so this investment can also enhance your communication setup. Check out Sony and Cannon for affordable entry level cameras. With all the obstacles that come along with working from home, especially as a real estate pro, we understand that making the most of your home office space is essential. Stick to the list above to help you stay organized and effective, and give you the same confidence you had working in-person.
